The internet has been flooded with some ideas for what are called "Rotation Proof" decks, which means players will be able to continue to play them after the rotation in September. RELATED: Magic Arena Announces New Chromatic Cube And Upcoming July Events So whether playing Magic: the Gathering Arena on mobile or not, players will have to find new standard deck lists in just a couple of months. While there is some overlap on what is legal now and what will be in the autumn, many of the current sets, from Throne to M21 will no longer be allowed in Standard play. What is Standard 2022 in Magic: Arena?Įvery September, Magic: the Gathering Arena sees a big rotation of what cards and sets are legal to play in Standard, just like paper Magic. As Standard 2022 inches closer, some might be looking to both build and playtest some rotation-proof decks for fall. You can read a little bit more about this announcement, as well as keep track of any future updates, over at the MTG website. While many Magic: the Gathering Arena players are still focused on the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms free codes and events currently in the game, some are looking forward to September's big rotation. As such, do not craft four copies of The Book of Exalted Deeds in an effort to get them for free, because they only thing you'll end up with is disappointment! It's also worth mentioning that, unlike the previous bans, this one will not give you any Wildcards back for your trouble. Until then, however, the Standard 2022 game mode is simply better off without it. With that in mind, it should come as little surprise to hear that Wizards of the Coast has decided to temporarily ban The Book of Exalted Deeds from the Standard 2022 game mode. The book will still be fully available in the normal Standard mode, and it'll most likely get completely unbanned once the next set arrives as it's bound to bring with it some land-based land destruction like Field of Ruin or Ghost Quarter. And since land destruction in the highly limited Standard 2022 format is basically nonexistent, the combo result in extremely long, tedious and ultimately quite boring games. However, while it's certainly a lot of fun to play with previously mediocre cards, the format has brought with it one major problem - The Book of Exalted Deeds combo.īasically, by combining The Book of Exalted Deeds and Faceless Haven it's possible to create a land that states you cannot lose the game and the opponent cannot win the game. So in order to give players a chance to prepare for this, MTG Arena has recently introduced a brand new Standard 2022 game mode. Given that these four sets (Throne of Eldraine, Theros Beyond Death, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and Core Set 2021) represent some of the strongest cards currently available in Standard, the upcoming rotation is promising to seriously shake up the metagame. Once the next set arrives in September, four of the currently oldest Standard sets will rotate out of the format. : MTG Arena is soon adding a bunch of Modern Horizons 1 and 2 cards, alongside 31 brand new ones. : MTG Arena has banned Tibalt's Trickery and Memory Lapse from the Historic format.
